Below the Kelp
It’s the day before summer begins and . . . what a day it was.
We had radiant sunshine and a flat-calm ocean during our dive today.
I can think of no better way to share the beauty and wonder of today’s adventure than to take you below the kelp with me.
Please see today’s images at link below. I have included captions that provide a bit of information about the species we were so fortunate to see.

OK, I just officially stomped on my camera! these are extraordinary photos! was I even on this dive? So fabulous that you capture the beauty that we get to experience Jack, we are truly blessed with days like today… and every day out on the water. I love NE Pearse.. and Bob’s .. thank you for this blog, among so many other things..
My wonderful friend and dive buddy, shall I send you some of my earlier images when I got new equipment? Horrible, painful learning curve that leaps to an apex of being able to capture the beauty we drink in when we dive.
Jackie once again I am enthralled with the beauty of our undersea life. Have you ever thought of sending this to the ‘powers that be’ involved in trying to have oil tankers using these amazing oceans?
I am going to send this to my son in Brisbane to show him that the Great Barrier Reef has some serious competition for the life under water on the North Coast. Thanks for making my morning my friend! (and you write exactly like you speak) I can almost hear your voice.
did you see the eagles on my wall on facebook?
So appreciate the feedback. I could definitely be more overt, certainly in approaching the ENGOs. This is why I want the pictures “out there” to as many people as I can reach. I want our oceans to have “a face” if you will; an identity and connection to people so that they “get it”.
Saw the eagles and was so overjoyed. Left a FB happy rant there for you.
Big hug!
fantastic photographs jackie. I want to dive again!
I agree with Ev. A great contact would be … dogwoodinitiative.org.
Imagine blobs of oil stuck on any your photos.
Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipelines proposes to construct and operate two pipelines, 1,170 km in length, between an inland terminal at Bruderheim, Alberta and a marine terminal near Kitimat, British Columbia. About 500 km of pipeline will be in Alberta and 670 km in British Columbia. One of the pipelines will carry petroleum west to Kitmat and the other line will carry condensate east to Bruderheim. The project also includes the construction and operation of an integrated marine infrastructure at tide water to accommodate loading and unloading of oil and condensate tankers and marine transportation of oil and condensate.
Thank you Gillian. I will take up contact with the DI, know them well.
Hey Jackie
Awesome pics – sure miss you guys
